An alternative approach to obtaining Nagar-type moment approximations in simultaneous equation models

چکیده

This paper examines asymptotic expansions for estimation errors expressed explicitly as functions of underlying random variables. Taylor series expansions are obtained from which "rst and second moment approximations are derived. While the expansions are essentially equivalent to the traditional Nagar type, the terms are expressed in a form which enables moment approximations to be obtained in a particularly straightforward way once the partial derivatives have been found. The approach is illustrated by considering the k-class estimators in a static simultaneous equation model where the disturbances are non-spherical. ( 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved. The Robustness of the 2SLS Moment Approximations

In a seminal paper Nagar (1959) obtained moment approximations for the k-class of estimators in a general static simultaneous equation model under the assumption that the structural disturbances were i.i.d and normally distributed. While it has been known for some time that the normality assumption can be relaxed when obtaining the bias approximation, it has not been demonstrated that the secon...

Extensions to Study Electrochemical Interfaces - A Contribution to the Theory of Ions

In the present study an alternative model allows the extension of the Debye-Hückel Theory (DHT) considering time dependence explicitly. From the Electro-Quasistatic approach (EQS) done in earlier studies time dependent potentials are suitable to describe several phenomena especially conducting media as well as the behaviour of charged particles in arbitrary solutions acting as electrolytes. A variational approach to moment-closure approximations for the kinetics of biomolecular reaction networks.

Approximate solutions of the chemical master equation and the chemical Fokker-Planck equation are an important tool in the analysis of biomolecular reaction networks. Previous studies have highlighted a number of problems with the moment-closure approach used to obtain such approximations, calling it an ad hoc method. In this article, we give a new variational derivation of moment-closure equat...

Modeling Stock Return Volatility Using Symmetric and Asymmetric Nonlinear State Space Models: Case of Tehran Stock Market

Volatility is a measure of uncertainty that plays a central role in financial theory, risk management, and pricing authority. Turbulence is the conditional variance of changes in asset prices that is not directly observable and is considered a hidden variable that is indirectly calculated using some approximations. To do this, two general approaches are presented in the literature of financial ...
